Welcome to my website. My name is Nadine Ibrahim, and I encourage you to explore the exciting world of cities, so come on in and browse through. I hold a BASc (2000), MASc (2003), and PhD (2015) in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto, and a Certificate of Preventive Engineering and Social Development (2003), also from the University of Toronto, where I have consistently maintained a multidisciplinary approach to my education and research that has broadened my understanding of collaborative processes that transcend the disciplines of my specialization. Currently, I am an instructor in the Department of Civil Engineering, and in the Master of Engineering in Cities Engineering and Management program at the University of Toronto. I am also a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Centre for Global Engineering at the University of Toronto, working on engineering education for sustainable cities in Africa.

In research, my vision is to connect sustainable urbanization and ecological economics in cities to achieve urban prosperity. My approach is diverse in urban issues, with an objective of generating research outcomes that are internationally recognized, and creating a body of knowledge for sustainable cities applicable to and usable by local governments. I have leveraged my industry experience to expand my inquiry into cities through urban and environmental projects in Canada and abroad. I am interested in sustainable infrastructure, climate action for economic growth, city-to-city learning, and sustainability for engineering education.
